At Nagapattinam DistrictNagapattinam district is located on the shores of the Bay of Bengal covering an area of 2715.83 Sq. km. This coastal district of Tamil Nadu lies between 10.10º and 11.20º North latitudes and 79.15º and 79.50º East longitudes. The total population of the district is 14,88,839, including 7,39,064 males and 7,49,765 females. The major crops grown in the district are Rice, Groundnut, Pulses, Gingelly, Sugarcane and Cotton.
Tourists from various places come to visit Poombuhar, Dargha in Nagore near Nagapattinam, the temple of Lord Anjaneyar, shri Kayahorana Swami Neelayathatchi Amman Temple, Sowriraja Perumal Temple, and Nellukkadai Mariamman Temple and the virgin beaches.
Built in 1620 exists to exhibit Danish architecture. The fort is now under the control of TamilNadu Archeological Department, houses an archaeological Museum. This museum is open on all days expect Friday.
